Children Of Ethiopia is a 100% nonprofit organization with a purpose to positively impact Ethiopia through children. Not only does this organization focus on children, but the environment too.
The birth of Children Of Ethiopia began in March 2018. Melat Lemma, the founder of Children Of Ethiopia, began this organization independently. She came up with the idea to travel to Ethiopia and create small projects to complete by herself with some help from her family. Her main purpose going to Ethiopia was to see what needs to be prioritized the most to adjust future projects.
Melat raised over $3,000 before her summer trip to Ethiopia. Her intention was to purchase school supplies, hygiene products, clothes, and toys to donate towards Kidane Mehret Children’s Home (Addis Ababa), Lola Children’s Home (Mekelle), and Seeds of Africa Elementary School (Adama). After she fulfilled her small projects, she decided to use the left over donation money to purchase over 300 loaves of bread and water to pass out to homeless people in different churches and mosques all over Mekelle and Adama. Additionally, she was able to pass out 100 notebooks and pencils to unprivileged children in Adama.
Melat's future plans for Children Of Ethiopia is to create different projects in different parts of Ethiopia that benefit children and the community as a whole. It may focus on improving education, water, unprivileged families, etc. there is no set focus since the overall goal is to positively impact Ethiopia in various ways.
